Baha Cruisers Boats for Sale
Baha Cruisers built plain, tough hardtop fishing boats in Mayo, Florida, for more than 30 years. No new ones are being made, but the 25- to 30-foot hardtops still sell well on the Great Lakes, where walleye and salmon trollers want a cabin, a hardtop and a big cockpit.
A family yard built on one hull
Felix Nall started in the boat business in 1967 and worked his way up to running other companies. In 1977 he bought the rights to a Baja 31 sportfisherman hull from Southampton Marine Corporation and started building it with a crew of three. The company's own history says every later design came from that 31-foot bottom. At its peak it built 34 models with about 100 employees.
It stayed a family business. Nall's wife Pat kept the books, his daughter Dianna ran purchasing, and his son Kenneth handled sales and production. The range included Sport Fisherman hardtops, GLE (Great Lakes Edition) walkarounds, Mach 1 performance boats, the Conquistare cruisers, a Renaissance deck boat and King Cat power catamarans.
Built plain on purpose
Baha said its boats were "not fancy, and are generally no frills." Stringers and transoms were fiberglass cored with Greenwood XL composite panel, which carried a lifetime warranty against rot. Hulls had isophthalic gelcoat and a vinylester barrier coat against blisters. Fuel tanks were welded aluminum, rails were welded stainless, and windshields were tempered glass in welded aluminum frames. The factory warranty was one year overall, five on the hull and lifetime on the stringer and transom core.
The end of production
US Coast Guard records show Baha Cruiser Boats Inc. closed on January 4, 2013, after operating as BCB of Lafayette County from 2010. A separate company, Baha Cruiser LLC in Cross City, Florida, held a builder code from January 2013 to January 2016. If you're buying a late boat, find out which company built it.
What they cost
Prices in fall 2026 were modest. A 2004 251 GLE with a Volvo Penta 5.0, Cannon downriggers and a trailer was $25,900 at CenterPointe Marine in Milwaukee. A 2008 251 GLE was $29,900 in Pompano Beach, and a 1999 290 King Cat was $36,995 in Port Clinton, Ohio. A 2001 299 SF at 29 feet 11 inches with a 10-foot-6 beam, a single 370 hp MerCruiser 8.1 at 3,954 hours, autopilot and bow thruster was $39,900 at Coastal Yacht in Port Clinton. A 2007 252 GLE was listed privately for $55,000 in Ventura, California.
Buying checks for a Baha Cruisers
Read the engine hours against the price. Many Bahas were working Lake Erie charter boats. Nearly 4,000 hours on a gas inboard is normal for one, so get a compression test and price a repower.
Check the hardtop and windshield mounts. The welded aluminum frames are strong, but look for corrosion and leaks where they're bolted to the deck.
Work out who built it. The HIN prefix shows whether the boat came from the original Mayo company or a later one, which affects warranty and parts history.
Inspect the trolling rig. Downriggers, planer reels and rod trees add value only if their mounts and wiring are sound.
