Pursuit Boats for Sale
Pursuit builds premium saltwater outboard boats in Fort Pierce, Florida: center consoles, dual consoles and offshore models with cabins. It started as the fishing line of S2 Yachts, the company behind Tiara.
From S2 Yachts to Malibu
Leon Slikkers, who founded Slick Craft in 1955, started S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan, in 1974 to build sailboats. Tiara powerboats followed in 1976, and in 1977 S2 added a line of fishing boats called Pursuit.
In 1983 S2 built a plant in Fort Pierce, Florida just for Pursuit, leaving Holland to build Tiara. The Pursuit 2665 Center Console was Boating magazine's Boat of the Year in 1992.
Malibu Boats bought Pursuit from S2 in 2018 for $100 million. At the time Pursuit had 15 models and about $124 million in yearly sales. The Slikkers family kept Tiara. In 2020 Pursuit opened a new 182,000 sq ft plant next to its original one in Fort Pierce.
Three types of boat
- Center console: fishing first, with large models for offshore runs.
- Dual console: family boats that can still fish.
- Offshore (OS): boats with cabins for overnights, used for fishing and cruising.
Spec sheet: the S 358 Sport
The S 358 Sport is a good one to know because it shows up often on the used market. Pursuit's model page lists it at 37'4" overall with an 11'4" beam and a 22-degree deadrise. Draft is 2'5" with the motors up and 3'3" with them down. It's rated for up to 900 hp, usually as twin 450 hp Yamaha XTOs, and dry weight with those engines is about 16,069 lbs.
Tankage is serious for a center console: 322 gallons of fuel on the current page (the 2023 and 2025 owner's manuals say 343), a separate 16-gallon diesel tank for the generator, 36 gallons of fresh water and a 10-gallon holding tank. The manual also lists a 32-gallon livewell and three fish boxes, and a capacity of 12 people.
Those numbers tell you what to check when you're looking at one. A generator means a diesel fuel system to inspect alongside the gas one. Fuel this big also means checking the tank sender readings against a sounding, and asking the owner what the boat actually burns at cruise.
Fuel figures differ between Pursuit's own documents, so confirm the tank size against the boat's capacity plate and paperwork.
What to check on a used Pursuit
Year and owner. Boats built before the 2018 sale were S2 boats. Ask a Pursuit dealer which warranty, if any, still applies.
Outboards. Newer Pursuits run twin or triple outboards. Get hours and compression on each, and check the power steering.
Cabins. On an OS model, check the head, holding tank and air conditioning, and look for leaks at the windshield and hatches.
Hardtop. Check the mounts for cracks and the electronics box under it for water.
Recalls. Run the hull number through the Coast Guard database and ask a dealer.
