Caymas Boats for Sale
Caymas is the fourth boat company from Earl Bentz, who founded Stratos and Triton. He started it in September 2018. The lineup now runs from 20-foot tournament bass boats to center consoles over 40 feet, and every hull is fully composite.
Earl Bentz's latest company
Bentz was a racer before he built boats. Caymas says he drove his first race at 16 and went on to win nine national and two world championships. He founded Stratos, later ran the OMC Fishing Boat Group, and in May 1996 started Triton Boats. Brunswick bought Triton in 2005, and Bentz stayed as CEO until 2018. A few months later he started Caymas. He has also served on the boards of the NMMA and the American Sportfishing Association.
The 26 and 28 HB bay boats
The first saltwater models were the 26 HB and 28 HB hybrid bay boats. Sport Fishing magazine reported that naval architect Michael Peters designed them on his patented stepped-V ventilated tunnel (SVVT) hull. The 28 HB is 27 feet 7 inches long with a 9-foot-4 beam. It weighs 4,300 pounds, draws 1 foot 4 inches, holds 120 gallons of fuel, has 18.5 degrees of transom deadrise and takes up to 450 hp.
FishTalk ran one with a single Yamaha F425 XTO and saw cruising speeds over 40 mph and a top speed around 60. Lenny Rudow, reviewing for boats.com, credited the twin steps with about a 15 percent gain in efficiency and speed. He also liked the 35-gallon livewell with an 800 gph pump and a high-speed pickup, and a foredeck with room for three or four people to cast.
The CX bass boats
The CX 20 is 20 feet 4 inches with a 96-inch beam and a 17-inch running pad. It weighs about 2,000 pounds dry, carries 50 gallons of fuel and a 44-gallon livewell, and is rated for 250 hp. Caymas lists it at $79,000 before freight and dealer prep. It's built with no wood, using a foam-filled stringer grid and a Tri-Core transom, and carries a limited lifetime hull warranty to the original owner.
What they cost
Boat Trader showed 292 Caymas boats in fall 2026, 101 of them used. A 2021 CX 20 Pro was $54,995 in Gainesville, Georgia. A 2020 28 HB was $99,999 in St. Petersburg, and a 2021 26 HB was $119,500 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. A 2021 341 CC was $230,000 in Morehead City, and a 2024 34 CT was $434,000 in Key Largo.
Buying checks for a Caymas
Use the hull warranty transfer. Caymas says the structural hull warranty transfers to a second owner within 10 years of build. Register the boat with Caymas once it's yours.
Learn to drive a stepped hull. Twin steps act differently in hard turns than a conventional V. Take a sea trial in rough water and watch how it banks.
Check the livewell plumbing. The high-speed pickups and 800 gph pumps make a lot of plumbing. Run every pump and look for leaks at the through-hulls.
Mind the model codes. The 28 HB, 281 HB and 291 HB are different boats, so compare like with like.
