Invincible Boats for Sale

Invincible builds high-performance offshore fishing boats in Opa-locka, Florida, near Miami. It's best known for big outboard catamarans that run 70 mph with a full fishing crew aboard. These are expensive boats, and most used ones are only a few years old.

A fisherman's company

Alex Lipworth, a competitive fisherman, founded Invincible in 2006 to build semi-custom saltwater fishing boats. By 2019 it had more than 260 employees and eight models from 33 to 42 feet, in monohull and catamaran designs, all built in-house in Miami and sold through dealers on the Gulf and Atlantic coasts.

In July 2019 EagleTree Capital, a New York private equity firm, bought a majority stake. Lipworth stayed on the board and kept a share. John Dorton, who ran MasterCraft from 1999 to 2012, became CEO and said Invincible would focus heavily on catamarans. Dorton is now executive chairman of Warbird Marine Holdings, which Invincible says oversees two premium fishing boat brands.

The 40 Cat

Boating magazine tested the 40 Cat in 2018. Specs: 40'2" long, 10'0" beam, 1'10" draft, 16,000 lb with engines, 640 gallons of fuel, and up to 1,600 hp. The running surface was designed by Morrelli & Melvin, a California firm best known for racing sailboats. Each sponson is semi-asymmetrical, so the boat leans into turns like a V-hull instead of skidding flat.

With quad Mercury 350 Verados, seven crew, 400 gallons of fuel, 500 lb of fish and 180 gallons of livewell water aboard, the test boat hit 30 mph in 10 seconds and topped out at 71 mph at 6,400 rpm. Best economy was about 1 mpg at 40 mph and 4,000 rpm, burning 41.8 gph.

Fishing space is huge: two 55-gallon pressurized transom livewells, a 72-gallon well under the cockpit, a 960-quart forward coffin box, and fish boxes of 268, 414 and two of 158 gallons.

The 39 Open Fisherman and 33 Cat

The 39 Open Fisherman is a monohull center console about 39'2" long with an 11-foot beam. A new 2026 boat with triple Mercury 400 V10 Verados was listed at a Clearwater, Florida dealer for $807,171 in 2026. The 33 Catamaran is the smallest cat. A 2026 dealer demo with twin 400 hp V10s and under 10 hours was listed at $520,000.

Used prices

Invincibles hold value well. In 2026, 2025 39 Open Fishermen with about 100 engine hours were listed at $625,000 in Charleston and $679,000 at another broker, compared with just over $800,000 new.

What to check on a used Invincible

Quad and triple outboards. Three or four big Verados cost a lot to service. Get hours and records for each engine, and check that all are about the same.

Hull bottom. The 40 Cat has a double-stepped hull. Look for cracks around the steps, and at the tunnel between the sponsons where waves slam.

Fish boxes and livewells. With that many wells and boxes, test every pump and macerator and look for leaks.

Hardtop and glass. Check the powder-coated aluminum uprights and the acrylic windshield for cracks and loose fasteners.

Trailer or lift. A 10-foot-wide cat needs a wide lift or slip. Most can't be trailered without a permit.

Recalls. Run the hull number through the Coast Guard database and ask an Invincible dealer to check for open campaigns.
