Sailfish Boats for Sale

Sailfish builds offshore center console and dual console fishing boats from 23 to 36 feet in Cairo, Georgia. It is a family fishing brand, so most used Sailfish boats are set up for both fishing and a day out with the kids.

Paul Hoppes and Cairo, Georgia

Paul Hoppes Jr. founded Sailfish in 1986 and ran the day-to-day operation until he retired in 2020. He died in May 2026 at 73. The company is still based in Cairo, in southwest Georgia, and builds center and dual console models from 23 to 36 feet.

The 360 CC up close

The 360 CC is the flagship. Sailfish lists it at 38'6" rigged length with an 11'2" beam, a 28-inch draft, 400 gallons of fuel, 42 gallons of fresh water and a dry weight of 15,600 lb. It is rated for up to 1,200 hp, which in practice means triple or quad outboards, and it has 34 standard rod holders.

At 11'2" wide and over 15,000 lb, a 360 CC is not a trailer boat for most owners. Expect it to have lived in a slip or on a lift, and check the bottom paint and running gear accordingly.

Center or dual console

A center console gives you walk-around fishing room and is easier to clean. A dual console trades some of that for a windshield, a walk-through and a head inside a console, which makes it easier with a family aboard. Sailfish builds both, so decide which you want before comparing prices, since the two hold their value differently in different markets.

A published test: the 290 CC

BoatTEST ran a Sailfish 290 CC with the optional twin Mercury Verado 300 XL DTS outboards. They give the boat as 30'6" overall with a 9'0" beam, a 21-inch draft and 225 gallons of fuel. Dry weight with engines is 8,000 lbs, and the test weight was 9,541 lbs with two people and 11 of 50 gallons in the tank.

Top speed at wide open throttle was 58.6 mph at 6,200 rpm. At 4,500 rpm the boat ran 40.8 mph and burned a combined 25.0 gph, which BoatTEST says gives a range of about 368 statute miles with a 10% reserve. Their engine options include a triple Yamaha setup.

Use those numbers to check a used 290. If the boat you're looking at with the same engines can't get close to that top speed with a light load, ask why. The cause could be props, bottom growth, engine height or tired engines.

What to check on a used Sailfish

Gelcoat stress cracks. On the Sailfish owners' forum, the most common complaints are gelcoat and stress cracks, usually cosmetic. Look closely around the hardtop base, the console and the hull sides, and have a surveyor tap any cluster of cracks.

Hardtop bolts. Owners have also posted about hardtop bolts failing. Grab the hardtop and push; it should not move. Look for rust stains or cracked gelcoat around the mounting feet.

Drains. Kinked drain hoses are another owner-reported issue. Pour water in each fishbox and the cockpit and watch it go overboard.

Multi-engine rigs. A 360 CC rated for 1,200 hp usually has three or four outboards. Get compression and service records on every one.

Recalls. The only Coast Guard recall I found under the Sailfish name is a 1995 Seminole Marine Sailfish SF 150, which is not the Georgia builder.
