SunChaser Pontoons for Sale

SunChaser is the value pontoon brand from Smoker Craft Inc., the Indiana family company that also builds Sylvan, Starcraft and Smoker Craft boats. SunChasers are built for first-time buyers and families, and used ones are some of the cheapest pontoons on the market.

Part of the Smoker Craft family

Smoker Craft dates its boatbuilding to 1903 in Indiana and is still family owned. It calls itself arguably the largest builder of aluminum fishing and pleasure boats, with five brands: Smoker Craft, Starcraft, Sylvan, SunChaser and Starweld. SunChaser says every one of its pontoons is assembled in the US alongside the sister brands. The current lineup includes the Vista, Geneva, Lucerne, Eclipse and Calais series.

Older SunChasers carry number names, like the 8520 Classic Cruise, while newer boats use series names.

The Geneva series

The Geneva is the core family line. SunChaser lists it in LR, SB, CRS and Fish layouts from 20 feet 10 inches to 24 feet 10 inches, with a 102-inch beam and up to 300 hp (250 hp on the Fish). Current starting prices are $41,018 for the LR and $42,599 for the others.

Pontoon & Deck Boat Magazine's tests

PDB tested a Geneva 22 LR PSB in 2020. PSB stands for port swing back, a bench across from the helm that faces either way. With a Yamaha 115 and the PTS package, which adds a short center tube and lifting strakes, it hit 28 mph and went from 0 to 20 mph in 7.08 seconds. As tested it cost $50,100, on a base of about $26,000 before the engine. The testers suggested the 150 hp maximum to get the most from the hull.

A year later PDB ran the refreshed Geneva 22 SB, which is 22 feet 10 inches with a 38-gallon tank and three tubes. With a Yamaha 90 it reached 27.7 mph, 0 to 20 in 7.4 seconds, and was priced at $44,700 as tested. The magazine liked the ski-tow bar built into the rail and the pop-up changing room in the bow, though it wished the room were taller than 5 feet 4 inches.

What they cost

Boat Trader showed 68 SunChasers in fall 2026, A 2015 8520 Classic Cruise was $14,850 in Suamico, Wisconsin. A 2019 Geneva Cruise 20 LR was $27,995 in Clarklake, Michigan, and a 2024 Geneva 22 SB DH was $34,999 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. A 2023 Geneva Cruise 22 CRS was $35,500 in Harrison Township, Michigan, and a 2023 Geneva Sport 25 SB was $67,939 in Kenosha. At the top, a 2024 Calais 25 SB DC was $89,995 in Round Lake, Illinois.

Buying checks for a SunChaser

Check the warranty transfer. PDB noted SunChaser's Lifetime Warranty +6 coverage. Get the written terms and ask the dealer whether any of it carries over to a second owner.

Find out the tube setup. A two-tube boat, one with the short PTS tube and a full tritoon all run differently. Check under the deck before you compare prices.

Don't buy it underpowered. A 30 to 50 hp is fine for cruising on a 20-footer, but PDB recommended more power even with 90 to 115 hp on the 22s.

Read the model name. Vista, Geneva and Eclipse are different trims, so compare the same series.
