Center console boats for sale

A center console puts the helm in the middle of an open deck, so you can walk all the way around the boat. That 360 degree access is why it became the standard saltwater fishing layout.

Why the layout works

With the console in the middle, anglers can follow a fish around the bow and back without climbing over anything. Rod holders, livewells and fish boxes go in the deck and the gunwales, and most boats from about 20 feet up carry a T-top or hardtop for shade. The trade-off is weather protection. There is no cabin, only a head compartment inside the console on bigger models.

Three common sizes with spec sheet numbers

Around 23 feet: Sportsman lists its Open 232 at 23'4" with an 8'6" beam, a 20 degree deadrise and a 16 inch draft with the engine up. It weighs about 3,950 lb without power and is rated for 300 hp and 10 people. Sea Hunt's Ultra 235SE is a similar size at 23'7", rated for 250 hp with 96 gallons of fuel, and Sea Hunt's site lists it from $96,329. See Sportsman and Sea Hunt.

Around 24 feet: Robalo's R242 is 24 feet long with an 8'9" beam, 22 degrees of deadrise and 150 gallons of fuel, and you will find it with single or twin outboards. Mako's 236 CC, reintroduced for 2020, runs 23'4" with 136 gallons and a 21 degree deadrise, per BoatTEST. See Robalo and Mako.

Small skiffs: Mako's Pro Skiff 17 CC is 17'2.5" long with a 75 hp limit and a base package price of $25,995 with a Mercury 60.

Dated used prices

Fall 2026 Boat Trader listings for Venture, a big-console builder, ran from $124,000 for a 2007 34 Cuddy to $429,000 for a 2016 39. That shows how quickly prices climb past 30 feet. See Venture, Boston Whaler and Grady-White.

Center console inspection points

Saltwater is hard on these boats. Pull the console hatch and look at the wiring and the backs of the electronics for corrosion. Check the T-top welds and mounting bolts for cracks and weeping stains. Look in fish boxes and livewells for cracked plumbing, and check the transom around the engine bolts. Get engine hours and service records for every outboard, because twins and triples cost twice or three times as much to fix. Most used center consoles come with a trailer, so check its brakes, axles and tires too.

Where they sell

Most listings come from the coasts. Browse Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Texas.

Questions for the seller

Ask how the boat was stored, whether on a lift, a trailer or in the water, because bottom paint and blistering follow from that. Ask for engine hours on every outboard and whether they match. Find out what electronics were added and who wired them, since poorly done aftermarket wiring is a common source of trouble on fishing boats. Also ask whether the fish boxes and livewell pumps work, and see them run.
