Walkaround boats for sale

A walkaround is a fishing boat with a cabin forward and narrow side decks running around it, so you can walk to the bow while fighting a fish. It sits between a center console and an express.

The layout and its trade-off

The side decks take width from the cabin, so a walkaround has less room below than an express of the same length. In return the whole boat is fishable from bow to stern, and the cabin still gives a dry place to sleep or ride out weather. Grady-White sold walkarounds from 21 to 30 feet under names like Adventure and Seafarer, and Baha Cruisers built GLE, or Great Lakes Edition, walkarounds. Cobia had walkaround models in its line too. See Grady-White, Baha Cruisers and Cobia.

Big custom walkarounds

At the top end, Yachting reviewed the Winter 46 in 2024. It is 46'1" long with a 14'2" beam and a 3'2" draft, displaces 33,000 lb and holds 600 gallons of fuel. With twin 850 hp MAN diesels it cruised at 35 knots on 60 gph, for about 350 nautical miles, and hit 39.3 knots on trials. Winter stretched it partly to get more cabin space. Marlin previewed a 43 foot L&H walkaround planned at 30,000 lb with twin 600 hp Cummins. See Winter and L&H.

Dated asking prices

In late 2026 YachtWorld had a 1992 L&H 33 at $209,000 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, with rebuilt Cummins, and a 2009 33 Walkaround at $225,000 in Montauk with 1,781 hours. Bluewater Yacht Sales listed a 2022 Winter 38 Walk Around at $1,349,000, and a 2019 Winter 46 Walkaround was $2,499,000. Production outboard walkarounds in the 20 to 30 foot range cost far less.

What to inspect

Look closely at the side decks and their non-skid, which take a beating, and at the rails and stanchion bases for cracks or leaks into the cabin. Inside, check the cabin for water stains and mildew, and run the head and any galley gear. Have the hull and engines surveyed, with oil analysis on diesels. On outboard boats, check the transom and bracket mounting. Ask the seller how the boat was stored and where it fished, since offshore use is harder on a boat than bay use. Also ask how old the canvas, cushions and cabin upholstery are, which add up quickly to replace.

Who it suits

A walkaround fits anglers who fish offshore but want a cabin for overnight trips or for family days, without the price and weight of an express. If you rarely use a cabin, a center console gives more deck for the length.
